Somebody worked on my website an used this template. Since then Joomla updated but the template for some reason didn't, so I am stuck on version 3.02 which causes issues. Can someone tell me how I can update it?

I realize that there is nothing under the account, I just opened it. The person who worked on my site abandoned it and I have to clean up the mess now. I have no way to contact him. The question I have is should the template update automatically in Joomla?

How do I update them in Joomla. In your "How to" you only refer to install but no update instructions.

You have just to upload the updated files on your server via FTP.
Before replacing please backup old files, probably the person who worked on your website made some important changes.

OK, I updated to the 3.1.0 version and still getting error on my homepage:
1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY RAND()' at line 25 SQL=SELECT content.id AS ID, cats.name AS cat_name, cats.alias AS cat_alias, content.catid AS cat_id, users.name AS author, users.email AS author_email, users.id AS author_id, content_rating.rating_sum AS rating_sum, content_rating.rating_count AS rating_count FROM afqcd_k2_items AS content LEFT JOIN afqcd_k2_categories AS cats ON cats.id = content.catid LEFT JOIN afqcd_users AS users ON users.id = content.created_by LEFT JOIN afqcd_k2_rating AS content_rating ON content.id = content_rating.itemID WHERE ORDER BY RAND()
Any idea what might cause this?
