All changes you have to make in the tmpl.default.css file, for example in the following class you may to change background color:

But probably you will need to make changes in other classes as well, or you can create your own css and put it in the style.custom.css file.

You can put there image or text, you can't use both. Our suggestion is to add the slogan to your logo image.
