Joomla! Template 002050 - Item Support

I downloaded and installed this template today running within an up-to-date instance of Joomla 3.1 (http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org). For the most part everything seems to be working well, and I'll probably purchase the template soon.

Question: In Firefox the main menu navigation looks great, but in Internet Explorer 8 it looks blocky, washed-out and barely usable. Is IE8 not recommended? If so, can I go back to Joomla's default menu navigation module and use that instead?
Hello SENYORS,
The premium version looks good in IE8, just checked it. The free version you have to customize a little bit, sorry.

Fair enough--I've gone ahead and purchased the premium version. I reinstalled the menu module and it did seem to fix the problem in IE8 (again, it's located at http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org). However, now I'm not getting any secondary navigation from the menu; the Education / Resources menu item doesn't display any sub-navigation in IE8 (but it does work on Firefox).

Second question: How hard would it be to implement a new color within the template? I'd really like to utilize a brown theme, and I know CSS pretty well. It seems like I just have to duplicate one of the other color CSS files, but what file would I need to change so that the new color option shows up within the template style dropdown menu?
Hello SENYORS,
First of all our suggestion is install this template using quick-start installation package, after installing the package your site will look exact like our demo preview and it will be easy for you to config it.

1. The template is fully based on HTML5 elements, please see the item details page for more info, the IE8 unfortunately doesn't support HTML5.

2. If you know the css pretty well it will not be a problem for you to create a new color style, our suggestion is not duplicate colors, you can do it using style.default.css or style.custom.css
For any customization services you can contact us via the following page:

Having an issue getting the Google Map to display on a contact page (http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org/council/contact-us/1-scott-huelsman). I have the Google plugin installed but nothing shows up. Are there any specific instructions I can follow to ensure that I have everything configured correctly? Alternatively, is there a way to simply turn off the map within the contact form?
Hello SENYORS,
Sorry, but we don't see the map on the page. Our suggestion is install the template using quick-start installation package, after installing the package your site will look exact like our demo preview page and it will be easy to make any changes, please see the following page for more info:

I'm having an issue seeing sub-sub-menu items in IE8. In everything else, I can run my cursor over a main menu item, run my cursor over a submenu item that appears and see additional menu items appear to the right. In IE8, however, the third level of navigation doesn't appear; I can only see main menu and sub-menu navigation items. Does the third level of navigation not work in IE8?

Note that I see the same problem on your example site at http://www.astemplates.com/itempreview/183. I can run my cursor over "Features" and then "Color Styles" but I don't get any menu options associated with "Color Styles" (as I do get with all other browsers). Again, it seems to be a problem with IE8.
Hello SENYORS,
The template and menu is based on HTML5 elements, unfortunately IE8 doesn't support this technology.

I have another apparent IE8 issue. On each page, the background color extends vertically down the entire height of the browser. In other browsers, the background color only extends down to just past the main menu, at which point the background color becomes gray (displaying the breadcrumbs and then page content). In IE8, however, the background color extends to the very bottom of my browser, and I have to scroll upward in order to see my content.

As with my previous comment, this behavior appears on your example site as well (http://www.astemplates.com/itempreview/183), so it really seems like an IE8 issue. Note that my primary customer base for the site I'm using your template at (http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org) still uses IE8, so it's imperative that I get these IE8 issues resolved.
Hello SENYORS,
We checked your site on all browsers and not see any problems, can you please provide us with screenshots of the problem? Thank You.

Regards, AS Team.
Sorry, I've been working with IE10 in compatibility mode (see the screenshot at http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org/images/IE8Issue.jpg). I checked the site on another computer using IE8 directly and it did NOT display like my screenshot. So, apparently, the problem only manifests itself when viewed in compatibility mode.

However, my sub-menu issue remains in IE8; I can select a primary navigation menu item and I can select any of the secondary navigation menu items that appear below, but I none of the tertiary navigation menu items appear (such as Initiatives / Statewide Forest Plan / Overview at http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org). Again, it works in all other modern browsers, but it doesn't work in IE8.

I do recognize that IE8 doesn't display HTML5 very well (essentially, it doesn't work at all). However, I have worked with other HTML5 templates (such as Bootstrap) that, with some special "shiv" files CAN get HTML5 to work. Has this been looked into, or should I just give up on IE8 (which may mean abandoning your entire template, as we still have a substantial number of customers who use IE8)?
Hello SENYORS,
We made some changes, now the 3rd level menu items in IE8 will be shown with accordion effect. You have to update all files accordingly to our news page:

AS Team,

First, kudos to you folks for helping with my request and supporting your product! I do a fair amount of Joomla development, and your willingness to help and support will definitely bring me back when I have future Joomla template needs. I applaud your effort!

I downloaded your changes and installed them (again, the site is located at http://dev.wisconsinforestry.org and is running version 3.2). The IE8 issue does indeed appear to be fixed. Unfortunately, I also tested the changes in IE9 and the tertiary menus do not display. Actually, I suspect they're there but "underneath" the secondary navigation. Ironically, the tertiary navigation appears in IE9 if I jump into compatibility mode, just as it works now in IE8 (accordion style).

Sorry for all the trouble. You folks probably hate IE at this point.
Hello SENYORS,
In the template index.php file please find the following code (it should be on line 71):

[if lte IE 8]

and replace it with the following:

[if lte IE 9]

Regards, AS Team.
Quick question--how do you update the favicon with this template? I don't see an option for which favicon file to display.
Hello SENYORS,
You have to upload the favicon in the template root folder, in your case it should be: dev.wisconsinforestry.org/templates/as002050
