Many thanks, it's part fixed. I've removed the vertical bar, but how to I set it so it will display just one article? I've tried change references to col & column to just 1, but not making a difference.
If not where is the background colour controlled? If I can turn that off and disable any featured articles at least I won't see it.

You did not config the contact form, all fields are empty, you have to config it in your Joomla admin panel -> Components -> Contacts -> Contacts -> Contacto.
Yes, I have installed it using quick start installation package.
Right now I have it on my pc because I have a site and do not want to replace him until not finish my template.
