I'm very interested to buy this template but I've got two questions:
1) Can I change the brow background color of an article with a custom color like white or cream?
2) Is this template design "compatible" with Virtuemart?

The background colour can be changed to that of your choice via the admin section.
For virtuemart, this template has not yet been styled to match it (virtuemart), but this does not mean that it is not compatible.
