I downloaded template 002062 sample. How do I edit the images on the homepage?

The home page displays article's intro image with the article intro text. All these articles you can find in your Joomla admin panel -> Content -> Article manager under Home Gallery category.

Also, how do I remove/edit the Michael Studio logo in the upper right hand corner of the page?

You have to replace it with your logo image, this image you have to upload on your server in http://www.amalofbeverlyhills.com/templates/as002062/images folder.

As I went to the above location, Home Gallery category is not list. However it is listed in Categories. There is not content or images there.

Ok, but this did not help. I had already conducted a search for the Home Gallery category and it is not listed in the Article Manager. Again, the Home Gallery appears in the Category manager but there isn't any content or images to edit or remove the ones that appear on the homepage.

Yes, you can do it by creating your own css classes, these classes you have to put in the style.custom.css file.
