If i use Paypal as a payment option do i need to set up taxes or paypal will take care off that upon checkout.

You have to set taxes by your self in your PayPal account, you have to contact PayPal and ask where you can do it.

My taxes in my Paypal account are set up my question is do i have to setup the taxes in virtuamart as well or the ties are going to be calculated by paypal upon checkout?

It is better to setup taxes in Virtuemart only, but before starting to make sales our suggestion is to test it on PayPal sandbox.

The taxes in VM you have to set here:
1. Products -> Taxes and Calculation Rules.
2. Shop -> Payment Methods -> Configuration -> Discounts and Fees -> Tax.
