Your home splash page must to have page class suffix 'splash', as well you have to unpublish all modules.
Our suggestion is to install the template using quick-start installation package on some demo server or demo folder and then preview all settings, the quick-start package is actually the template documentation.
Yes, it is possible by editing css files, you can easy determinate the file which should be changed and the css class by installing and using Mozilla or Opera Fireblug plugin:

the Spash Page menu is related you can find the "Harvest Hills Pantalica" where is set to "Splash" in page display.

because the splash page in large monitors over 24 inches does not fill the entire screen as the site I realized www.trofeopantalica.bike and also this page is not responsive when seen in the the smartphone.

For large screens you have to use large background images, for example 4000x3000 px.
What kind of problem do you have with smartphones? The background image on smartphone is static as you can see on the template's demo preview page:
