I purchased this template yesterday and I have question.
I would like to have the top row (dark blue where the logo is shown) split into two different colors, topside and bottom side. Where should I change this and how?

Hello BKNIPPING,
The template doesn't have such option, you have to create css styling and put it in the style.custom.css file, or you can ask for our customization services using the following page:

I am not able to make a menu-item in the mainmenu invisible.
I am using the AS Menu module for the main menu
In my site(Joomla 3.6.5) I changed "Display in menu" to "NO" in the Link-Type tab of the Menu-item I do not want to show in the Menu. Still the item remains visible however.

Hello BKNIPPING,
You have to change your menu item status from Published to unpublished, for more info please see Joomla documentation:

In reply to your answer that I should unplubish the item: correct, if I unpublish the item doesn't show up in the menu. But I am also not able to use the SEO friendly url for it. For example I would like to hide the LOGIN menu item but have it available in my url like www.site.com/LOGIN
