It seems you made changes in the ext.default.css file, there is missed one class:

But thanks for the hint! - I just replaced the file with the one from the quickstart package and now it looks perfect!

The width you can change by editing css files. You can easy determinate the file which should be changed and the css class by installing and using Fireblug plugin: https://getfirebug.com/

Our suggestion is to install it using quick-start installation package, after installing the package your site will look exact like our demo preview page and it will be easy for you to make changes in the content, preview all parameters and settings. The quick-start package is actually the template documentation. If by some reason you can't install it on your live server you can install on some demo server or demo folder and then preview all settings.

It seems you made changes in the ext.default.css file, there is missed one class:

now i want to include a ssl certificate
but then all sites where the menu is shown are wrong.
my webhoster (1and1) said it´s caused by the menu module
it would load js from "http" sites.
and i have to find the files and rename all likns to "https"
