The solution normally is to disable jquery in the module/extension which has it enabled. Alternatively, you may use nivo slider.
HI , sorry about this but have one last question - how do i display the latest news and tweets on the home page? Just want a brief box style display and then read more will redirect them to the actual page.

Please make sure that you have installed the quickstart package provided with the download files. Otherwise, if you installed the template alone or did not install the sample data, then you will have to populate your site with data first before achieving the same look as the demo site
