I have investigated these areas with Firebug in Firefox and in Google Chrome, because I would like to change the color. When the console (of Firebug) opens, the grey areas are disappearing and I can see the background picture.
Where in the default template css file can I change the color of these areas?

Hello PRIMETTA,
The template doesn't have css for tables, it is based on html 5 elements.
Tables by default are not responsive and used in old html versions.
Anyway, if you interested to use tables you have to create your own css and put it in the style.custom.css file.

Your home splash page must to have page class suffix 'splash', as well you have to unpublish all modules.
Our suggestion is to install the template using quick-start installation package on some demo server or demo folder and then preview all settings, the quick-start package is actually the template documentation.

Hi, the backgroung image isn't workin in mobile devices (at least the ones I've used, like samsung galaxy phone). Even on the template preview on your site. It doesn't stay when you scroll down the content. I need to fix that. Thanx

Im not saying that I want to resize it. I'm saying that on mobile devices the image doesn't stay on background when you scroll down the content

Yes, it is possible by editing css files, you can easy determinate the file which should be changed and the css class by installing and using Mozilla or Opera Fireblug plugin:
